I've had my eye on a MIM 98 white strat at a local pawn shop for awhile. They just lowered the price and are offering a 25% sale, which brings it to $200. I think it's a good deal, but there is a very small hairline crack about 1" long right at the base where the neck joins the body. Is this a concern, or for the price not too much to worry about?

Thanks

That sounds like a crack in the paintwork - sometimes happens if the neck is removed or is loose. sometimes it just happens! If so, no problem. Just check that the neck isn't loose and the srews are nice n tight.

Sounds good for $200

Just play it and be sure it stays in tune and plays well. Sometimes the paint cracks. Just look at the neck and look for impact damage. Sometimes a good shot to the neck can crack a pocket too.

For $200 I'd probably go for it. You could always sell it if it doesn't work out.

Agreed. As a matter of fact, you'd easily get that $200 back if you parted the guitar out.
