With an MIA Std you get:

1) HSC
2) Finer details on a 22-fret neck
3) Alnico Pickups
4) 2-point bridge/trem with better trem block
5) Better color selection
6) Staggered tuners

this dont make my mind up.
the mim 2006 to present have
fantastic quality craftmanship body's
and necks the MIM strat reminds me of
a strat used in the late 60's. also the fender
ping tunners are better that the fender classic
tunners. the mim strats are simply fantastic in my book.

Hello guitarsneak my friend! How do you feel about the MIA Standard?

Guitar sneak says "its a piece of junk"

"Get's ripped". Oh come on twosbrs.

It was an unusual opinion to say the least. Maybe it's a cultural thing, but over here we're not so sensitive about people harmlessly poking fun at each other...

...and are not so quick to take offence where none was intended.

Obviuosly you've never taken the time to try one. Some of the older models, you'll either have come up with a winner or a lemon, but ever since the 2006 models have come out, the improvements that Fender have put into them have been quite noticeable. I know because I am the owner of a 2006 Standard Sunburst Strat, which I have gotten many compliments on from fellow musicians who can't believe how good it sounds and how much in comparision it is to a MIA Strat. I suggest you take a ride to your nearest store aand try a few out. I guarantee you'll change your opinion towards them.
I believe that was tongue in cheek.......Mike

I have to admit, I really get a kick out of these MIAs over MIMs pissing contests, especially when one camp and/or the other starts getting uppity over it like it's something really worth defending in terms of life's, "Big Picture".

"On the MIAs, the heads are better, the frets are better, etc, etc."; and the unshakable credo of certain chemical finishes, one over the other, for infinitely more than the its due on bolt-on solid bodies through an amp, in spite of the Laws of Physics. It would surely be safe to assume that this same lot would readily dive on the lousiest specimen of a Pre-CBS Strat, sight unseen if offered to them and guaranteed, you wouldn't hear the usual, "Compared to the MIAs..." diatribe. Yet, the fact remains that the post 2006 MIMs are infinitely closer to the Pre-CBS Strats than the standard MIA models, finish notwithstanding. On the other hand, all MIAs should be perceived as indeed, what they surely all are, "Deluxe" Strats in their own rite.

Anyone on either side of the fence should realize that it would be easier to pick fly crap off the head of a pin with boxing gloves than trying to offer any cognizant, sustaining input on the subject as after a while, this topic is like Abbott & Costello's, "Who's On First?" skit.

Now, let's all watch the wagons be drawn up once again and prepare for round 9 to the 'N'th power of this venerable and unresolvable debate. Lock and load!

I agree.

Tried a new 2009 MIM Standard this week, just to see if there WAS any difference to the MIA (I have a new MIA Standard).

Well, I'm amazed... the MIM was lovely – much more of a vintage feel to it... lovely neck. Wish I'd picked one up months ago. I'm selling my MIA to get one.

I'd rather spend £345.00 and mod the pups than spend £800.00+ and feel like, at that price, I shouldn't have to mod anything.

It really comes down to personal choice.Nothing wrong with either one. Both great guitars IMO."Better"," crappier", or fill in the blank with your special word, is all a matter of personal choice.Nothing more , nothing less.

MIM and MIA are like Honda and Harley. Both are good machines but if you want the American made, you gotta pay the price.

WOW three pages of post and not one person mentioned the American has a Bi-flex truss rod which I have found really tweaks a neck. Go to a the neutral position tweak. It 's a much better neck to setup and address issues in which you may need to remove some of the convex shape of the neck. Face it what is the most important part a guitar for playability, the neck.

Think how good Hendrix would have been if he'd had a Bi-flex truss rod.

And of course this totally supports the MIMs are as good if not better camp.
