Nicer finish on MIA. The standard sunburst MIM I originally purchased looked like it was dipped in thick plastic goo. Made the guitar look a little toyish. The MIA has a better looking thinner finish.

Not always. I just got a used 60s Classic and it's got the nicest grain and airbrush work I've seen ...

Yeah, IMO there is not a huge difference in bursts between standard MIA & MIM guitars. The difference becomes noticable when you get to the MIA Deluxe models. Those seem appreciably nicer than both MIM & MIA Stds. Again, just my opinion...

Good answer, but with the greatest of respect, I can't for the life of me think why a MIA would stay in tune better than a MIM. How about the MIJ... how does that score in the staying in tune contest?

Turned into another "Vs" thread. Both are great. I prefer USA due to the fact that I don't like top fret markers protruding from under the finish on the neck of my MIM tele. It plays nice, but it could have been finished a little better.

With an MIA Std you get:

1) HSC
2) Finer details on a 22-fret neck
3) Alnico Pickups
4) 2-point bridge/trem with better trem block
5) Better color selection
6) Staggered tuners

this dont make my mind up.
the mim 2006 to present have
fantastic quality craftmanship body's
and necks the MIM strat reminds me of
a strat used in the late 60's. also the fender
ping tunners are better that the fender classic
tunners. the mim strats are simply fantastic in my book.

The MIM sunbursts have a veneer top - at least my MIM tele does.
