Why is it I cannot buy an American Deluxe with SSS, Rosewood Vee neck and the LSR nut and no string trees?? To get that combination I had to order a Custom Shop.

Thanks !!

What, nobody at Fender thought "lets slide in a SSS loaded pickguard into an American Deluxe HSS" I am sure they did. I just want to know if there is a mechanical or sonic reason. If it is marketing so be it!!

Hi dwco: they've made just about every combination of features you can think of over the years. They continue with the ones that sell and drop the ones that don't.

Lot of other combinations absent from the catalog at present. See how many HH Strats you can find. Or hardtails.

People don't buy 'em: the company ditches 'em.

Luckily, it's just about the most moddable guitar going, so if you want a variation but don't want to go to the Custom Shop then the solution is usually very easy to get.

Good luck - C

If it makes you feel better, I had an LSR nut installed after market on my SSS American Deluxe. But I wondered the same thing, given my last strat was an 89 Strat Plus.

Please, what is the attraction of 'no string trees'? Playin' behind the nut?
Goin' for the dulcimer sound? Or just matching a certain past model?

Yes, I went and bought a Custom Shop. Rosewood V neck, LSR, No string trees, Locking tuners, Vintage Noiseless, Ice blue with Parchment. Absolutely the best Fender I have ever played. And I have played a few. I have been playing for over 40 years.

The reason I like no string trees is purly for asthetics. I do believe the LSR nut makes for a softer feel. Besides, it is quite easy to set up as well.

Thanks to all that participated. Still do not have an answer to the basic question... Why!!!!!!
