Hello all,

In 1998 I bought an olympic white Hendrix Voodoo Strat with maple neck. Two years later I had the chance to exchange the Voodoo's neck with the neck of a 97' Hendrix Tribute Strat. So I now have a Voodoo Body with the neck of the 97 Hendrix Tribute. Does this diminish the value of the guitar in case I'm gonna sell it in lets say 20 years? I could imagine it's going to be difficult to explain to a potential buyer that all is original and why I exchanged the neck and....

What is your opinion on this? Should I try to buy a Voodoo neck to have an all original instrument? I didn't much like the neck with the transition logo and that is why I exchanged it, but bearing the value in mind....I don't know man....

Yes the guitar is not complete. It loses value despite having higher spec parts on it. Its not 'As New' and therefore has lost a good portion of its collectability value.

A drummer I know has a 61 strat body, the neck is a Lead1. Both collectable guitars. He cant get anywhere near 61 value for it. I think the most he was offered was £5K. If he put a 61 strat neck on it, then yeah he may fool someone into believing its complete. I really believe the people in the know on such guitars, know how to determine neck/body matching. I also belive that details on neck/body codes for modern guitars will become available in years to come too.
