While watching some guys at the local casino I noticed they were not using conventional wires. I'd like to know your opinion of the wireless guitar rigs out there and if any would be helpful to me???

Be prepared to spend a serious chunk of change for quality

Good ones will be at least 250 from what I have seen, and that seems to be the middle end, it can affect tone so be careful

I use a Ashton wireless for live stuff. Its just better than getting tangled up in wire. They seem to be a lot better these days regarding sound quality. You will always get the tiniest bit of compression when using them. I find it a help, its usually just enough to even out your notes volume across the guitar a touch, without altering the way it responds to drive.

Its really not like it used to be in the old days where unless you spent £900 on a sennheiser unit you were wasting your time. AKG offer a great system called 'The Bug' which is basicaly a sender pack that fits directly into your guitar. You need to buy a receiver to go with it, both sell for around £70 each. You can always go up in value/quality on your receiver pack though.

Now when you get some info on wireless in ear monitoring, please let me know. Thats a whole other minefield.
