I could tell you what I have, a 92' lp studio, and I love it. You've also read what everyone else thinks and loves. I can also tell you they are both great guitars. But to get to the bottom of it you're better off going to a music store to try them out for yourself. Only then will you know what you love and which one sounds better. Hope this helps.
Good Luck.

Thanks, that's what sux about being left handed, you really can't play one in the store. I can have them play a right hand and see if I like the sound but can't really get a feel for the guitar. Last time I was in guitar center, they had 4 lefties on the wall.

Hello, I have a 61 reissue SG that I love the neck. 60's slim taper. Real nice but it has the 57 Classics in it which for me sound a bit "high rangey" new word... My Les Paul has the 496/498. These things are great for classic rock etc. 59 rounded profile on the neck. My choice between the two would be a Les paul with a 60's neck profile loaded with the 496/498.

Just my .02

So far, its seems about 50-50

It's really down to each one's taste.... I mean if you like the thin neck & body and the look of the SG, this is what you get.
If you always wanted to get a Gibson Les Paul, but don'tt want to spend many $$$$, you should get the Studio!

I'm considering a studio for myself. Those wine red with gold hardware ones are really pretty.

The only Sg I really like is the white one with a bigsby and 3 humbuckers.
Have you played the SG Classic with the P90 pickups? Now, that is one great sounding SG IMHO.

As only one pic shows a zebra in the bridge, it looks like you already changed (at least) the bridge pickup. What did you drop in there?

I say go with the SG, it's lighter and they are lots of fun to play.

Something else I have to consider. I love guitars but I suck at playing them. So if you were going to buy a wall hanger, would it be an sg or Les Paul?
