Nice Looking Pair There , John!

Thanks, Time Traveler.

There is a major age difference between those two Strats. The black one is a 1965 while the white is a 2008. Guess that proves that black Strats age well. :)

I think you have it all wrong. Everyone knows that Leo only ever wanted to build strats in red. He shared my belief that the pigment in red paint affected resonance in a positive way. Also breathing air passed over a red strat led to better hand/mind coordination. They look equally as good in rosewood or maple.

Seriously :lol:

Ok to be really serious. White with rosewood, black with maple.

Can I borrow the '57 real quick...I'll probably leave the country, and you'll never see it again, but thats cool right?

Currently I'm in the mood for White/Maple.

NOT a fan of Black Strats for some reason, never have been.

Its tough to get a concensus on this as tastes varies significantly from one person to another. Furthermore taste evolves with time. Just think of alcoholic beverages, as a kid it was yucch, but as an adult you build up a taste (ex fines wine...).

Personally, I always look for something more unique, and the options you are looking at are not that unique. My choice between them would probably be white, with rosewood (and my main guitar, which I have had for years is black with maple ;) ). I enjoy browsing google images and looking at the various options that people have. And recently, I have identifed a few colors that I would consider if I was to get another guitar. They would be:

1. Daphne blue with rosewood need (awesome), again that is a question of taste;
2. Candy Tangerine, the now discontinued custom classic had that color as an option, quite unique and very nice;
3. Good old sunburst, but I personally enjoy the vintage two tone sunburst which has literally only yellow (and no orange/red).

My two cents. Have fun.

Dan

I love the Olympic White with a Rosewood neck. Looking closely at the paint is so fantastic. I've never used a black one, but I don't think it would be very interesting.

To me, Vintage Blonde, Vintage White, Siennaburst, Tobacco Sunburst, and Natural finishes are my Fave.
