Personally, from those choices I'd go with white with maple. But it doesn't matter what I or anyone thinks. Go with what you like.

I'm a fan of rosewood necks, I would of course say the black/rosewood.

I voted Black /rosewood

I've always preferred rosewood to maple .. although my current strat is maple.. and I prefer Sunburst the most, followed by candy cola red then black and then white ... white on maple is also awesome ...

I just wont go for the "strange" colors (IMHO) like yellow or orange .. but other than that most strat colors are great ... I owned a 50th anniversary candy cola red metallic which looked much much better in hand than on the website .... take a peek at your local guitar store first .. thats what I'd do.

Mind you transparent colors/finish usually have a nice grain texture .... I always wanted a transparent finish on an Ash strat ... Viva Ritchie Blackmore in the seventies!!
Good luck hunting
Cheers

 Dang It! You Guy's Left Me Out!
But I harbor no regrets.. :P
In 1996 I bought my first AM Standard..
It has grown with me somewhat over the years.. ;)
It started it's life as a 50th Anniversary Lonestar..
And just seems to get better with age.. :D

I dig black with maple...Gilmour vibe, but they're all good choices.

I voted: white/rosewood (duh!)

But it's gotta be a "real" white white. Not that yellowed, vintagy off-white white.

I think you have it all wrong. Everyone knows that Leo only ever wanted to build strats in red. He shared my belief that the pigment in red paint affected resonance in a positive way. Also breathing air passed over a red strat led to better hand/mind coordination. They look equally as good in rosewood or maple.

Seriously

Ok to be really serious. White with rosewood, black with maple.
