I didn't even know he had his own strat model. Good for him, I'm a fan.

I used to have a neighbor that had one. It was a sunburst and I think it was around 2002 when I saw it. It came out in the late 90's or right at the start of the new millenium. It was a very nice guitar but I would rather set up a guitar and make it mine versus buying one with someone else's name. But thats just me. I have always thought that artist models are just rediculously priced. Don't get me wrong, I have alot of respect for them but I believe in being a leader, not a follower and I just feel like a follower if I buy an artist model. Guess I'm just weird. But the Sambora strat is a very nice strat.

Search the Forum Archives. There's a recent thread on that guitar. There were two models...MIA and MIM. Out of production.

Great sounding Strat.

Im sure that guy has a NZ accent... kiwis buying up cheap knock-offs and shredding like mad... love it man

Ok so the sambora strat was essentially an american standard FR, with 1 Dimarzio PAF pro and two texas specials. It also had star inlays but thats where the differences between those two guitars end. Cherry Burst, Vintage white, three colour sunburst and Black were the colours on offer.

Truth be told, there were actually three versions.
the MIA had the stars, A limited CIJ/MIJ finished in black Paisley and the MIM in black and Lake Placid Blue..

Anyone can add to this then please do! :)

I would love one of these- I would say that they would be my absolute perfect strat- only thing is as I have to agree with the above... I aint a follower and I dont want someone elses name on my main axe

I'm seeming to recall that the MIA had a 12db midboost circuit as well.

I believe that many of them came in white. I'll have to dig out an old catalog, but those stars.... uck.

MIA and MIJ models were amazing guitars, there was a HSS model with floating bridge and then a SSS model with Hot Noiseless and mid-range controls... gotta love It. I also liked the inlays.

Regarding mexican ones I don't know...but I would not pay too much for It now...

Played the the MIA Sambora Strat at Winter NAMM 1994 (I think). Very nice Guitar! The Mid boost was killer and really seperated this guitar from the other aritists models at the time (that and the Floyd Rose). However, the MIM Sambora Strat which came later, is basically a MIM HSS strat with a Floyd and Sambora's name on it. Unless you are a Sambora Fan and just have to have his name on your guitar, save yourself some cash and just get a HSS with a floyd. I've seen both MIA and MIM models on ebay.

The mim floyds I think are great guitars if you change the electronics on them... they deserve more cred and they should bring out again MIA.

Mike Eldred said that they dont get enough requests... Id like to know why they still have the MIA B-bender tele... I mean do they really get enough sales to keep that running?
