I was at GC today and they have a used 2008 MIM strat standard with a lite ash boby and maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. they called it a lite ash standard. I cant find this guitar anywhere on fenders site. any ideas for $300 im really thinking about it. it also as a red pearl pickguard.

This guitar has a natural ash body just like the 70's ri. its not a sunburst. its just a clear coat.

The specs he listed say(521) natural finish. The link showed a different one.

will it say fsr on the neck or is it just a normal mim serial number? this is the number mz8268917

I think i would like to get my hands on that for $300 ..I think you will find it will sound more like a G&L then a Fender ..Because that is the biggest difference other than pick ups is the wood ..G&L mostly uses Ash to best of my knowledge while Fender uses Alder..Which makes a huge difference in tone..
I never realized how big of a difference before i bought a G&L S-500..I also own a G&L SC-1 ..Both are made from ASH ..But both are alos equipped with MFD pickups so i can't really compare the two as there is no Fender pick up that compares to a MFD.Which doesn't make the G&L better or worse just different..
I think it would be very cool to have a ASh Fender and an Alder Fender and compare the tones..
