has anyone put Suhr pickups in place of samarian cobalts..and, did you leave the S1 switching in place...Im wondering if it would be worthwhile..

I run John Suhr V60's in my Strat in the neck and Mid and a Pearly gate in the bridge ..The John Suhr V60's are with out a doubt my favorite neck pick up and mid pick up..I generally play Fat Strats with the humbucker in the bridge but even then the John Suhr SSV+ is one of the best sounding pick ups i ever have heard..
I personally feel the only pick ups that sound even close to John Suhr pickups are Fralin's..Even with Fralin's great reputation i would still take the John Suhr V60's over them..
I highly recommend Suhr pickups and in my opinion i feel they are the best pick up on the market ..So Yes they are worth the price..

I've got a 1999 American Deluxe Fat Strat that came stock with vintage noiseless pickups and no s-1 switching, so I can't answer your entire question. I changed out my neck and mid pickups with Suhr Fletcher/Landau pickups, and they sound incredible. The salesman at the store couldn't stop raving about them after I told them what I wanted. There are some clips of them on youtube too, but trust me, they sound even better in person.
