Hey everyone. Complete beginner here but loving my guitar. I have an American Standard Strat, I believe it's on 09 model. Got it brand new as a gift. I picked up the guitar to play today and found a tiny, solid black spring near it. Seems it fell out of the guitar somehow. Can somebody tell me what this is and what I should do to repair it? For the life of me I can't figure out how to post a photo directly on here, but the link below will bring you to a picture. Thanks for the help in advance!

It goes in the hole in the trem block -- where you screw the trem arm into.

It is to provide a little tension to the arm so that it will stay in a position you like.

Usually, guys keep the spring in there with a little sticker/piece of tape covering the hole when the arm isn't in place.

its the trem arm spring. it goes in the hole at the bottom of your bridge. drop it in before setting the trem arm.

Hi dedario, and welcome to the forum! That spring is from the socket where the tremolo arm goes in. There are varying opinions as to whether it is necessary. 8)

just put a drop of Locrite into the hole and the spring won't escape anymore.
