I think the rubber tubing is an improvement as well...makes swapping pickups (or pickguards) just a bit easier to deal with. No more "boinggg...Where'd the spring go?", LOL!!! I also think the with the tubing the pickups tend to stay put better than with springs...not as much slippage.

Will the tubing hold up in 20 or 30 years? I'll deal with that in 20 or 30 years. Otherwise I've had the stuff in my '96 MIM for a few years now and no signs of problems.
