Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I would use the standard specs to start with and then tweak them with my ears so as to get equal volume on all my pups and the desired sustain!

I have 69s on my MIM and I did set them up as Standard spec and from then tweake them. To get the balanced volume I have them a little bit closer to the strings than what the Standard spec is (did not measure this but should for the reference). Use your ears to guide you sice you might not like this and prefer them allmost flush in the body.

These 69s are lower output that Standard I believe but for some reason throw the amp into the dirt teritory sooner than standard pickups. (That is Hendrix/Abigail Ybarra voodoo that they carry 8) )

I agree with the tweekers. I experimented with my CS 69's recently and found that at certain heights I might like the neck pickup, but didnt like the neck/middle as well. Took awhile, but I found heights that worked well for all switch positions.
