I'm 52 yrs old and when I first received a Stratocaster in 1974 from my parents , It was because of JIMI. Today ,as I mellow into a slower ,mellower time I believe it is because it is an ICON...Image

Which style headstock?

Both, I love the Big and Small headstocks equally.

Agreed. It's the heart of the Strat sound.

The neck. The necks on Fender Strats are more comfortable to me than any other kind of guitar neck I can think of.

would have to be how comfortable it is to play..... just feels great and can play for hours.. or until the fingers cramp up!

They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, well what electric guitar has been more copied or imitated more than a strat. I really can't pick just 1 thing that's best. It's the whole package, tone. feel, looks and versatility. If I was to pick just one, it would be the neck, I love the feel of my strat neck better than any of the guitars I have or any others that I have played.

Nice pic OO! 8)

I see Sweewater's new Fender American 70s Strat is an ash body.

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/StratAV7RNAT/

I wonder is it's the heavy northern ash or lighter swamp ash?

You could email and ask them the weight. It looks nice:
