Hi Guys, I have come across this strat that has really caught my eye, and its really bugging me. Its a 1994 Stat Plus Deluxe, maple neck in what looks to me either 3 colour sunburst or antique burst. Comes with original case and trem arm and to me it looks in great condition. The strat has been listed before and with no luck selling with the seller

Here's the link:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Music-instrume ... 27.htm#qna

Before you comment on the price, please remember that this is in NZ Currency:

$1 = $0.71 USA
$1= 0.43 sterling/pound
$1 = $0.78 AU

Please give me your opinion on this :)

I think it looks nice, and the price is good if it stays where it is... but your ultra already has that ground covered. Unless you're contemplating starting up a '90s Strat collection, which would be fair enough. I couldn't justify it to myself, but I unexpectedly turned into a respectable family-oriented pillar of society sometime in the last few years, so my opinion doesn't count! If I were on the hunt for another Plus-type guitar, it would be a Tele Plus.

True. The ultra does have it covered, and Id rather a Tele Plus myself... trouble is, as you know also they are like finding a Victorias Secret catalogue in a nunnery. I love these plus, deluxe and ultras- to be honest, they are good value and I think they will appreciate. I saw an absolute mint '91 silverburst plus go for $2100 go quickly, only problem was it was way down in Dunedin and also a '99 american standard in natural ash a guy wants $2k for. There is also this '94 custom shop sparkle tele:

I think the plus deluxe is a good buy and its really bugging the hell out of me. I was hoping you'd be around mate to get your opinion- cheers mondo :D I am also on the same page price wise- if it stays where it is and im picking it might, it may be a goer. its a 94, last of the old decal, mint with orig. case and it has that floyd bridge... hmmm. FYI have you seen the blue burst plus deluxe anniv on ebay? check it out :)

Ahhh... mrs mondo would be somewhat crestfallen to find me browsing guitars at this point in time, so I'll just have to enjoy it all vicariously! I impulsively bought a '67 Moody BA 17 (Sydney's only real amp manufacturer, back when it made sense for each state capital to build their own gear rather than import), and although I find it an item of rare beauty I have been accused of "filling the house up with prisms". My '90s time capsule of stuff is slowly being turned over into a '60s version, but the ultra stays!

I noticed the other day that the shop I bought it from in '92 has another now... last time I was there I mentioned mine and they were surprised that they'd ever had one in (they've always been very vintage-oriented), but evidently once they're headed for the 20-year mark they're considered more desirable (as is usual for guitars, I guess). Back then it was $1,500; now it's $2,250. Not an enormous increase, but how many other things in life can you have fun with for as long as you like and then sell at some sort of profit? Not that I'll be selling; I just like to keep an eye on things. Second hand, it's about the same as an Am. Deluxe, which seems appropriate.

What it takes for a particular guitar to gain popularity never ceases to amaze me. Kinda like Clapton buying a clutch of Strats on the cheap from Shobud back in the seventies. Of course, we know where that story ended.....a millioin dollar mutt.

I used to own a natural finish Tele Plus in near mint condition and swapped it out for a used Clapton, same vintage, but equally cared for. Bought the Tele used, literally for a song, off the wall from a vendor. Always considered it a fantastic guitar, but not as comfortable a player as a Strat. I hope the person who bought it still covets that ownership.

For me, that circuitry, in a Strat body, would be a great CS option.

Nothing I can transmit at present, unfortunately...natural finish ash, maple neck, white plastic, black pickup covers. Not a bad combo. i actually have some video of me playing it at a friend's wedding about 10 years ago.
