I was just wondering about this. I have 2 Fender MIA Standards from the 90's, (97 and 99 to be exact), and niether has the original contour body sticker on the front of the headstock. I have noticed this with other 90's MIA Standards as well. My 2004 MIA Standard does have the sticker on the headstock. Was there any differences on the 90's bodies? I can see no comparible difference on mine, but then again I might not know what to look for. Whats the story on this?

As far as I know all Strats have the original contour body. Perhaps not the sticker....

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

These transfers were omitted from around the mid 70's I think when they simply stopped bothering to put them on (probobly to do with CBS cost cutting).

The body contours have varied so much over the years. Early models can be completely different from each other in depth of contour.

As time passed the Strat contours became a little squarer cut and the horns a little more angular.

When the American series came out in about 2000, Fender decided to try and bring back a body contour that more closely resembled the early guitars in shape and hence the return of the 'Original Contour Body' transfer to signify this.

Hope this helps,

Russ :)
