Anyone here have the 2004 MIM gold 50th anniversary strat? How do you like it. I have my eye on one that I could get for a steal (under 400), but it does not have the 50th anniv. tweed gig bag.
Anyone have any opinion on these guitars? I assume they are the same as a classic series 50s, but in gold.

Hold on there! They are the same as standard MIMs except for varied cosmetics. Besides, you DON'T want a MIM made BEFORE 2006!!

Not all MIM guitars before 06 are junk,I think it was just that quality wasn't consistant ,my 06 MIM Tele and 00 L/H Strat are of great quality in every respect. You just have to make sure the quality inspector wasn't having a siesta when your guitar went through the line.

The reason I though it was like a 50s was the picture, it looked like the small 50s style headstock & logo, maple neck, vintage style tuners, 8 hole pick guard (i think). I'm posting pics now. Let me know what you think ... sorry about pic quality it is from the ad. Anyway, I think it looks kind of cool...

I found a better pic of what I believe is the same model after a google search... I don't have a lot of experience with these models. I was trying to get it for around 300 bucks.

You're the one who will own it. If the guitar appeals to you and you feel the price is fair, then bag it.

I personally own one of these and just because its a MIM does not mean in any way its POS. I love mine, and actually I found out after calling fender to see what kind of pickups were in it that after the first batch went out they put much nicer pickups in the later ones mine for instance has the 57/62 pickups in it and they sound amazing, plus i love the soft v neck
