Has anyone else seen the limited run of American Standards with the different paint options (lake placid, surf green) and the headstock is painted to match? The local store says they made 75 of each color. Anyone else see em? I love the colors but don't like the painted headstock.

I have seen them on the net, but not in person. They look pretty sweet, but I am like you, I love the color options but not the painted headstock to match so to speak. Very neat limited concept though, but if memory serves me, not the first time Fender has made these. I think they made some in the 90's ? Someone who knows will surely be along to fill us in more.

I love matching headstocks. CIJs have a ton of them.

Wildwood has a bunch of them. I'd be surprised if there were only 75 made.

I agree with Nevin, there is a musicstore in the city of The Hague where I live, they sell Am. Stand. Tele`s and Strats with matching headstock in 3 different colours [and they have a lot of them in stock].

When I saw Todd Rundgren a few months ago, he was playing a surf green strat with matching headstock.

I have seen them in person. I would have bought one, but I dont care for the matching headstock, and I also dont care for those colors with the rosewood board. I dont think quantity of 75 of each color is accurate. Most of the i-net dealers have them in stock. Sweetwater has them out where you can demo them.

Here's 50th anniversary one for sale here in Winnipeg. Wish I had the extra cash to get it.

I've got one, but it's not a 40th Anniversary. I think mine was made in 1995 or 1996. Candy Apple Red American Standard with matching headstock...

At least yours is a cool color of red.. Honestly, I think Fender blows it sometimes.. I saw the Special editions on MF, and I just can't get into it. I'm a big fan of Rosewood necks myself, but let's call the colors what they really are. Soft Pastel Green, The Weirdest Red Known To Man, and Powder Baby Blue..

I'll pass.

Thanks. My brother got one at the same time and his is a really cool green color with a rosewood board. I've never seen another of that particular color...it's like a dark teal metallic color. Really nice looking, I wish I had a pic.
