i played one the other day...didn't plug it in to an amp though...but ampless it was incredibly resonant and acoustic, and i am sure it would sound awesome plugged in. great feel to the neck, and beautifully made. really reminded me of my 62 reissue and the 57 reissues i have played. as far as quality and build...it is a beautiful guitar and i really liked the chocolate burst. if i was buying a new guitar now this one would be on my list.

while the american standards are great guitars and i love my mim standard strat...the limited 59 is definately a step up and is on the same level as the 62 and 57 american reissue strats.

I have to agree, as I played one unplugged and then lit it up on a Boogie Mark V. combo. I am now the proud owner of # 40. Sounds and plays great thru my Marshall 1959 HW 1/2 stack, MK V 1/2 stack, and even the Herbert gets in on some great tones.

Almost, if not totally impossible to see with a web photo

Very Dark Brown, has a softer look to it

Here's a link to one at Make N Music
Although you really can't see it .... but ...

Since this is still going, I have some more info on this Strat.

According to Steve at Fender Consumer Relations this is MIA and does have CS Fat 50 pickups. It was released in Oct. There was also another "error in the copy" regarding the body wood. It is alder not ash.

Thank you sooooo much Steve!!

In good light the chocolate sunburst really is beautiful!!! I know it does because I own #19 of 59. Get it? #19 of 59 of a 1959 copy. How cool is that??
And it sounds good to boot!!

BTW. Long time lurker first time poster. And a bit annoying.

The GC by my house has one of these. It is a unique burst finish. I say red, maroon, choc, and black in the finish from what I can remember.

Thanks for the congrats. I thought it had a little more mojo while I was playing it!

I found another anomaly regarding this guitar. According to the data sheet I was sent describing this guitar, the installed pickup switch should be a three way switch with a five way switch included in the case candy.

Mine came with a five way pickup switch installed and a five way switch in an envelope in the case. A three way switch has only three positions, correct? My extra "five position switch" is not the three way switch is it?

Anyone have a three way switch installed in their 50th Anniversary 59 reissue guitar?

Fender??

Chris

Everything above is true except the body finish (as rich and beautiful as it is) is NOT nitro, it's poly (on mine anyway). Mine is also one-piece alder (which doesn't seem to be touted anywhere). I know for sure the body finish is poly after swabbing an area inside the tremolo cavity with lacquer thinner AND acetone--neither melted the film. The neck is nitro, though. Anyone else have the same experience?

Cheers,
Wayne
