If the owner of the LP Studio wasn't offender by my comments about the worn finish, why should anybody be? Just an opinion. I didn't get personal with the owner of the guitar, I was simply referring to a product made by Gibson. C'mon, ya gotta admit, it DOES look like a picnic table finish!! I just always liked my guitars to look new when new, not "road worn" or "reliced" or "antiqued" .
I also think that Gibson can produce a less expensive product without the guitar looking kinda dull. I know they want to keep costs down, but there must be better ways of doing it that skimping on the finish. Not a big fan of the worn finishes, never will be. Bsides, how you gonna blind the people in the front row with a guitar that doesn't reflect stage lights???

It should never matter what a guitar looks like, its about sound.

If that were the case, as it should be, guitars would only come in one finish, natural woodgrain. Also, the whole "relic" thing wouldn't be as big as it is. But guitarists DO care about the look of their instruments. Just look at the vast array of accessories available to us.
Oh, by the way, the photo I put up was of a $350 used Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus Top, not a $3,500 Gibson. That right there proves my point.

Hey paisley that Heritage Cherry Custom Plus cost 800.00 back 3 years ago and replaced a Gibby that was 2g's+ you hit a winner at any price! Just that the likely hood goes up as the cost does. That said I have played very few bad Gibson's and the higher end Epi's are not bad them selfs.

Yeah, sorry 'bout that.
That's a $350 Epiphone!? Wow! That thing looks like exactly the LP I want. $350... May have to find me one of those...

This post was worth it because of the phrase "picnic table red." Sorry, but I find that description to be extremely funny. So funny I can hardly type. Anyway, all guitars are beautiful so peace and happy jammin brothers, no matter what you play. And if your soul shines through when you play a picnic table red LP then it's the most beautiful guitar there is!

Another thing...Gibbys are way overpriced for what you get. They are awesome guitars but honestly, most working stiffs can't afford one. Fender has not made this mistake and their business thrives because of it. Even their top-of-the-line models are relatively affordable. The Epiphones are truly a good value. I don't think most could discern the difference between them and a Gibby in a blind playing test. The "picnic table red" Studio is far-and-away a better bang for the buck than a $3000 Custom. Play 'em all - play LP, play strats, play teles! So long as your playing it's all good.
