I bought a Lefty MIM strat at Guitar Ctr that has the Fender Stratocaster stamp in black w/gold trim on the front of the headstock and the serial # MZ9.....and Made in Mexico print on the back of the headstock;
Then I saw one w/diff fingerboard and color in Best Buy that had all of that printed on the front of the headstock. What is the difference? . Where can I find info about current models' Serial Number schemes.

The older MIMs have a pale looking neck with all the information on the front, the newer MIMs from last year and on, I believe, have the tinted maple necks and the serials on the back.

Yogi is correct. I am a lefty and my older MIM strat has the information up front and my new MIM strat has the information on the back.
