I just bought this. I know $625 is too much to spend on a "super strat" which never hold their value, but I always wanted something kind of like this and wanted to experiment with the thin neck. It looks like someone basically did everything for me that I'd wanted to do myself. Here's the description with pictures if you follow the link to my google pictures site.

Here's a description of the guitar. Any comments are appreciated.

it was a '95 American Standard Strat. The neck on it is a warmoth replacement neck. It is a wizard ultra thin with an angled headstock like a Les Paul, but with a traditional Strat look. This neck has a 12" fretboard radius. It came with clay dot markers which were replaced with abalone dots and an abalone rectangle with angled edges at the twelfth fret. Jumbo frets were installed by Warmoth. The Fender tuners from the original '95 neck were installed on this neck and it has a graphite nut installed. It has a Nitrocellulose laquer finish except on the back of the neck which is bare wood for a nice natural feel. Also, a Mother Of Pearl truss rod cover.

The electronics which are mounted on a white pearl pickgaurd are as follows:

Bridge pickup - Seymour Duncan JB humbucker

Bridge/mid pickup - Seymour Duncan Hot Rails humbucker

Neck/mid pickup - Seymour Duncan SSL-1 vintage Strat single coil

Neck pickup - Seymour Duncan '59 humbucker

The four switches that are in a row (where the selector switch would normally be) are on/off switches for the four pickups respectively, allowing you any combination of the four. There is one 500 K master volume pot with a Q-parts mother of pearl dome knob. There are two switches below the volume knob, the one directly below is a 3-position switch which is a split/series/parallel for the Hot Rails only. The lower switch is a fixed 3-position tone switch. Center is off, down is a .010 cap and up is a .022 cap allowing you two fixed high end rolloff options. These would be equivalent to having your tone knob rolled halfway off or rolled completely off.

The bridge is a Stewart MacDonald replacement bridge in black with Graph-Tech saddles. There is no backplate on this guitar. The neck plate is the Fender neckplate it came with as well as the jackplate.

That statement right there is at least one reason you did the right thing in purchasing it. Lots of people spend alot of time and money making changes to a guitar, and you found one that is perfect for you right off. I've never played one of those, but I would be curious to see what kind of tones can be coaxed out of it. It may be a great guitar for you. Enjoy it.

Thanks for the reassurance Randy. $625 is basically the rest of my entire budget for guitars for this year, (I just spent $325 on an old white strat of questionable origins) so I'm nervous about it. I'll post after I have a chance to experiment with all of those tonal possibilities.

Wow, that shallow neck with the angled headstock is freakin' me out!

But it is definitely a cool guitar. Congrats! 8)

That neck is well played, check the frets out before you commit to it.

Funny c. Hey, how do you put a picture in the message. When I was reading the FAQ it sounded like you had to use a link, that there was no way to insert a picture, but everyone seems to be doing it but me.

True. All the cool kids are doing it. :)

It's actually very easy. Find a picture you like somewhere on the web. If it's on your computer, you'll need to upload it to a site like photobucket.

Then copy the URL of image into the forum, thusly:

http://i1013.photobucket.com/albums/af2 ... rski80.png

Important: Highlight the URL you just imported and select the "Img" button above. This turns the URL into a viewable image:

I hope this helps! 8)

Hi RR: seriousjamming already has his photos hosted at Picasaweb. But I tried putting the "img" tag around them (as did Nick on the other thread) and it doesn't seem to be working. What gives...?

On your photobucket pic go to the img code (the bottom code below the picture)and left click on it to hilight it then right click on it and copy. Come back to your post and right click and paste. Hope this helps..... 8) Mike

I posted the picture above by right-clicking on the image and selecting "Open image." This reveals the URL of the actual image. The image tag here requires a valid image file extension like .jpg, .gif, or .png. That's why using the URL of the slideshow doesn't work.
