I have two of these molded cases which I replaced with nice tweed ones from Musiciansfriend. I figured that it wouldn't really be worth the time selling them on ebay, I figured maybe $20 or something plus shipping. But I checked and saw that they regularly bring pretty good prices so I put one up and it just sold one for $69 which is quite fine with me. Heck, the nice tweeds only cost me $100 new after using a 20% coupon. No big deal, I was just wondering why they bring so much. They seem like pretty boring and generic, if not sturdy cases.

I was thinking probably because they look "cool". Some people don't like the tweed look. Personally I'd always go for a tweed case, I just ordered a nice one for my Tele.

They are nice cases, but not worth as much as, say, this case:

I think you'll like the tweed you ordered. I just got a black and a brown one and think that they look excellent. I kind of wish that there were interior color options with these particular exteriors but c'est la vie. The black has a black interior and the brown has a red/magenta interior. Anyway, they are really sharp and I am very happy with them.

Nice. What's the story on that? Looks like something I might give you $75 for just because it looks like you could use a new one. ;)

Nice cases, the one I got was like a darker brown with the brown leather. Cant wait to get it, should be sweet!

That old tweed was what the white guitar in my signature was in when I bought it. But I figure the case is about 5 or 6 years older than the guitar ...

If you got this one, the brown, with gold plush interior be aware that it is a hard tolex and not a cloth. I don't know which you want. I did not realize that and ordered that one first but sent it back because I didn't like the plastic feel to it.

I have seen some bad tweed cases though 3ply cardboard like that look good but are not near as good as the molded one you shown. I would take a good molded case over most tweed any day. Now there are some high end plus cost tweeds that are nice.

mine is being made by a guy here locally, i checked out the one he had at his shop and it is cloth i am 99.9% sure. It felt like the other tweed cases I have seen at least and was sturdy. It had a brown interior almost the same color as the outside. But what got me wanting one like that was the exact one you posted, I liked the look of that one. 8)

Those molded plastic cases are not much to look at, but they are very durable and protect the guitar pretty well. My problem with those cases is that the latches dont always line up perfectly when you close the case and then you have to play around with the latches to get it closed and latched properly. I recently got one of the brown tolex cases with a guitar I bought and it looks great, but I dont think it protects as well as the molded
plastic ones. I really prefer the new Fender SKB cases over any of them. They protect well, the latches are great, and they're stackable.

I have a tweed case from Gand G that came with my SRV and my only complaint is when I stand it up when its closed, it falls over on carpeting.Other than that its a beautiful case. When I play out I take a molded case with me.

so the tweed cases are a newer thing? i only really know about them because my buddies RI 52 Tele came in a "tweed" case and i really liked the look of it.

Tolex - the vinyl/leather type material that covers many amps right?

I believe the first couple years were a hard lacquer coated tweed then like 59' 60' tolex come to be which is a type of rubber. It held up much better then tweed . Some of the reissues come back out with tweed doing the 80's but they did not lacquer them and the felt fuzzy and did not hold up well.
Get tolex!!!! Looks same last better. How many 60's ones are still around?
