I'm a big fan of John Mayer. it's because of he's feeling in his playing, and his great tone!

I saw this video were he's playing Cissy Strut with the trio.

I can see he use one of he's Two-Rock stacks but there is a head on the top of the stack. What kind of amp is that, anyone one knows?

And what pedals do i need, to get this tone.

I know i will never get a tone like John. But you can allways try :D

Mayer mentioned in an interview from around the time he was playing with the trio that he'd been putting a Fender Blackface between his Two Rocks - like a 1x15 Vibroverb.
As for pedals he mentioned a vintage Tube Screamer and a Robert Keeley Katana Boost.
The real secret to his tone is that he goes for weaker pickups in his strats - that way the power comes from turning up the amp and getting more power and color that way. That's really the secret to the SRV tone - everyone seems to think they should put high power pickups in to capture that sound, but you figure SRV was playing vintage pickups - not over wound modern ones. SRV's power came from the fact that he ran all his amps wide open - and John Mayer is one of the few that seem to realize this. That's why he can nail the SRV tone so well...

Yeah, John Mayer is a pretty cool guy, his guitar is great if you wanna get close to the sound. I use a Marshall Plexi 100 watt head and if you turn it up real loud with a tubescreamer it sounds amazing! I think just about any fender tube amp turned up loud with a tubescreamer gets you real close to his SRV'ish tone. But I like more dirt in my tone so thats why I go for Marshall.
