The forums are really not what they used to be, this used to be a friendly place where everyone helped eachother. Lately things have been going downhill, spammers, trolls and rude people are eveywhere. I have not been on here so much lately because of that, sometimes I just feel like never coming back again, I hope it gets better soon.

[quote="Blertles"]I think it would be cool if I could get to know some of you on a more personal level as I think there are awesome friends to be made :)

Living on an island you certainly have some limitations, but should keep your eye peeled for others who may be geographically within reach, considering the possibility of establishing regional networking. I have begun to do that in my own right and will continue to do so.

You are a valued member of this community whose views and opinions have weight. A bit more Teflon, and you'll continue to make it happen.

Doc

Hi bluestube: the good guys outnumber the troublesome ones ten or twenty to one round here. And you are one of the best, so please stick around.

A place like this is what we all make of it. If we let the few rude kids run wild then none of us will want to hang around anymore. It's up to us to keep the tone how we like it.

And if in doubt, err on the side of extreme politeness. ...You lovely wonderful beautiful people!!!!

Cheers - C

I'm sorry to see a good person go! As Ceri said I think the good outweigh the bad big time on this forum. Porblem with the internet is people don't learn to talk face to face. I've learned so much from the people here. I remember one of my first posts I made a statement and Orvilleowner corrected me ( turned out he was right ) I didn't get mad just checked into it and found my mistake. Ceri, Niki, Civerilla ( sorry if the spellings wrong)flopkins, Miami Mike, Cherokee, Orvilleowner and so many others I would hate to see you guys go!!!, or anyone else that I've gotten info from.

Ceri, Reply was pretty easy, I learned a lot watching you salvage that trashed body, so much so that this summer I'm going to try to put my own together from parts. I only hope it comes out half as nice as that one did.
How does it play?

Hi again filerj. You liked that thread, huh? Well stay tuned...

As to playing: I really like the '60s spec Bare Knuckle pickups. Expensive but worth it. Not so wild for the neck, and now I have a Fender '57RI Strat for that feel I may do something different with the neck on my Pale Blue Strat. Which means I may make a new one for it myself and use the opportunity to experiment with an off-center soft V of my own design.

That's further in the future, though.

Cheers - C

Someone else said it in another thread. We seem to be experiencing some growing pains in the forums. I think its up to all of us to do what we can to make the forums enjoyable and helpful to everyone. At the very least we should all be polite. I'm also sorry to see Slapchop gone. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge to offer. That being said, he did have a tendency to be a little abrasive in his opinions, and I personally felt like he looked down on people at times. Maybe its just the problem with the printed word and the tone we perceive as we read it, but anyway I hope he comes back at some point.

Less to do with the printed word than the printer. To take pains to craft one's responses in the attempt to be constructive, not destructive is not asking too much of someone.

This Forum is not a competition, and anyone who needs to be competetive in every single avenue of endeavor should opt out and seek another venue within which to gratify their ego.

Hi Doc: though I can remember at least a couple of occasions where people have angrily taken exception to posts of yours, where to my eye it was perfectly clear you intended no disrespect.

Trouble is, it's such a chatty medium we tend to write as if we were exchanging friendly banter at the bar, and somehow forget that the reader can't see the smile on our faces.

So many times I've looked back at what I've written and realised, uh-ho: that's capable of misinterpretation I hadn't intended. One person's witty remark with humorous gleam in the eye can turn out to be another's devastating insult.

Tricky, ain't it?

Without a doubt, which is why I preview everything I send, edit, re-edit, and or perhaps call it back for revision or deletion. Have to take pains to consider the thin skinned of the world.

Doc, when I first started posting here the people setting the tone were yourself, Chet, Mike, Gil and some others. These are the people who showed the way and made it the only Forum that ever held my interest.

Those are all names we don't see involved in silly shouting matches. If we all follow their lead we won't go far wrong. The ship drifts off course from time to time but nice people soon bring it back.

Cheers - C
