Hey guys, lately i've decided to start using the tremolo system on my John Mayer stratocaster but it seems like so much tension from 5 springs has broken the tremolo arm, and I cant seem to find a replacement tremolo that fits the bridge.

Does anyone know where I can get a tremolo arm that fits the bridge? Its still under the first year warranty does that help? And can anyone give me any tips on how to set up the tremolo so that theres less tension on the tremolo arm or is that necessary?

Remove a spring. It's easy to do.

That's exactly what you need to do.

You could either take some springs out, or back your claw out a little. Most likely though, whatever you do you'll still need to adjust the claw some.

If you got a floating bridge there is a gap between the bridge and the body.Measure the gap and take 1 or 2 springs out and tighten the 2
screws on the claw until you got the same gap.
Take your time and do it in small steps and tune to pitch each time.

Thanks guys, I called the warranty people and they told me exactly which arm I need. I'm also gonna order a Callaham block to replace the one on my JM Strat. I like the tension of 5 springs but for right now i'll take out a spring or two.

Is it hard to readjust the tremolo settings after taking a spring out? Does anyone know a place where I can find a nice guide for doing this?

How do you remove a spring or add a spring? Do you have to take off all of the strings first?
