Oh dear!

TS i dont see a lot of 'Oh Dear' about that guitar mate. It looks pretty nifty to me. If its a 60th/50th anni Bert has made a killer deal.

Bert if it turns out to be what I think it is, put it under the bed and get rich off it in a few years.

I really hope your right nikininja, I hate to see people get ripped off!

I still have to say that it does not look good to me though!

TS I agree about the neck. The only way to validate that is to take it off and have a gander at the heel. That body is very attractive though, and I dont even like sunburst finish's. It takes a lot for me to say I like a particular one.

I'm torn between thinking this is some sort of unusual anniversary Strat model, and Tube Screamer's suggestion of a partsacaster made from a very nice bod from Warmoth (or whoever) and a neck with a pirate decal on it.

In this instance, if it is actually a real Fender then an email to Customer Services will sort it out. We can't tell what stuff is from the serial number - but they often can. As we've seen several times.

Till Bert comes back we're all theorising in empty air, aren't we?

Cheers - C

Well. That was exactly what I had in mind when I thought I was seeing a black plastic trussrod entry hole. Because the Korean plant has done several "special edition" models with unusual timbers: lite ash, koa, spalted maple, etc.

Then I looked at the trussrod hole again and wondered if it was walnut after all.

Hot diggity - where's Bert got to with those pictures?

Cheers - C

Is it me or is there something not quite right about that bridge unit?

Still don't know what to make of this guitar.

That neck has to be fake, just look at the shape of that headstock, even the lettering is at the wrong angle as it usually follows the angle of the bottom edge of the wood.

:?

I don't like the look of that trem. I can't say I've seen one like it on a Fender and also the 12th fret dot spacing. Have any of you seen that trem before as original equipment? I'm not that knowledgeable!

To me it looks like a fake logo, and the tuners, in 2000 fender was already using the tuners that don't have screws, so you would think those would be the same. The saddles look kind of like the ones on a squier.
It's not a bad looking guitar, I like the tint on the neck and the color of the body. I don't know what you paid for it, hopefully not TOO much.

If it was mine and sounded decent, I would throw some locking tuners on it, maybe some new saddles, and enjoy it.
