Hello guys how are you ?
First I want tell this my Stratocaster Classic Player '50 Mexico buyed one month ago is fantastic
I have a simple ,and stupid at the same time, question .
I want to restring it and mount a DR pure blues string.
Problem is is tuning machine, i hvaen't undertsand the exact way to operate in machine head.
As you read on catalogue this guitar mount :
Machine Heads Fender®/Gotoh® Vintage Style Locking Tuning Machines
This model has a type of locking screw at top of the machine to lock string.
On official web site I haven't found any faq or instruction and also the owner's manaul haven't any instruction.
Is there someone who tell me the right way to resting my giutar , expecially about length of string and correct opration on machine head.
Thanks for help
Bye
Guido

use a flat head screw driver, turn the locking tuners, 1/4 or 1/2 turn
to loosten the locking mech. counter clockwise
when you place the string through the hole that opens when unscrewed, you dont have to give it too much slack, lock by turning clockwise.
then just retune the guitar.
easy as pie

you should leave 3-5 mm out, imo.
after you do it the 1st time, you will see its very simple.

Ok I see 3-5 mm out .
When I put string in the hole can I get it in small or hard tension by hand before lock with screw , or not ?

The great thing about locking tuners is that you don't even need to have the string wrap around the tuner a bunch of times.

(Assuming the nut is 6'oclock) I usually orient the tuning post holes at 10 and 4 o'clock. I then feed the string in at 4 o'clock w/ just a little slack, then tighten the lock, trim the string, then tune. It's that easy.

ok thanks to Pcheng too.
Just I return to my home I try to restring with your suggest , now I'm far from home.
Maybe it's a question of fear and trembling to do a new work .
Probably it's more easy to do than to say .
I tell you the conclusion.
Bye
