Can previously owned Fender guitars sold on ebay come with warranty? I'm not sure but I believe that only the original owner with original receipt is covered by the warranty. Is this accurate?

Thanks for the link. The thing is many e-bay sellers who sell internationally state that all warranty papers included. The papers won't do you much good if Fender won't honour the warranty.

I think alot of people are under the misconception that the warranty is transferable as long as the papers have not been sent in.

If it's a Custom Shop guitar I believe the rules are somewhat different. Go to the CS page and read about the Custom Care Program. I know member Alain has received a warranty CS Care card on some second buyer guitars.

You can register a second owner CS guitar in the Custom Care Program but the lifetime benefit only accrues to the guitar's original owner. Alain's concern was being able to register all his CS guitars, a clutch of which were not first owner, and there was a glitch in the software which prevented out of country registry. That was corrected.

Warranties on other Fender guitars begin and end with the original purchaser. So if you are buying off eBay and the guitar is new, never played, never 'unzipped', uncovered, done over, however you want to put it, but the seller is the first owner, you are SOL on the warranty. The seller would have to be an instrument vendor selling a never-before-sold guitar from stock for the warranty to be valid in that it is throught THAT transaction, and no other, that the manufacturer honors its warranty.
