I designed a new banner to include my new Highway One in the picture. Coincidentally this is my 200th post. Just thought that was a bit of cool synchronicity.

I don't have to explain to any of you how much one can love a guitar or how much Leo Fender's creations shaped the sound of modern music. That's what I love about this place. If I start talking about pickups and five position switches most people get this blank look on their faces. At least I know you are as passionate, if not--more than me. So I wanted to offer all of you a heart felt thanks!

Nice banner Manabu. I understand about the blank looks you can encounter from non guitar people. It can be difficult to communicate with them about the subject. Unfortunately none of my closest friends are guitar players or even musicians of any kind for that matter. I continue to take some lessons as a way to learn more and to have someone to jam with. And you are right about there being many quality people here on this forum who are passionate and helpful regarding these instruments that we love.

Cool banner!

Yup - I like this place too. It's nice to come here, get some good conversation from folks around the world, learn a few things and check out each others gear and GAS attack plans.

The guitar is a very neat hobby and career for a few. There are so many ways a person can branch out between playing, collecting, song writing, etc. It's a world of fun!

I like this place too. I'm not a technical guru like some of our members but I sure enjoy the conversation and camaraderie here! :)

manabu108,

I also like it here. Congrats on your 200th post and nice banner. Like some of the others here, I am not a guitar guru but come here to talk to other people who share my enthusiasm for guitars. I have owned many guitars over the years, but Fender guitars are my favorite guitars of all.

That's a very fine banner.

I just recently included a picture in my signature.

O.O is that your 64?
BTW I found plexi heaven. A shop full of 60's/70's marshalls.
I swore I'd not buy anymore gear this year but my palms are itching and my head feels fuzzy.

Manabu

I'm pretty fond of the place myself. Your right its a utter privelidge to be able to converse with musicians from all round the world. I reckon we could all learn alot from each other musicaly if we were in a room together with a load of guitars. Unfortunately thats not viable. This is the next best thing though. Strange how we dont talk about music on this site much, other than likes dislikes. Hopefully there will be a tab/score upload on the new site, for sharing licks. That would rock like motorhead in a quarry.

Looks like fender are building a new site from some of the things that have been posted by employee's on this site.

Thanks Niki, I didn't see that going through the forums. but it sounds like a good idea. Glad to see the penguins again. Niki since I noticed in your posts you have a lot of diiferent strats, how easy do you find it going from one neck to another? I'm thinking on getting a Clapton strat when I pool together enough money but I'm not sure about the V neck and I haven't found one at my local stores to try.
Thanks

Yes, that's my '64. It's really sweet.

You found a plexi heaven, huh? What are the prices like?

Very very reasonable. £500 for a 72 59plexi in great condition. Theres a few from 68/69 too. A late 60's 1962bluesbreaker for £1500. Theres also a couple of 64bassman (blackface) going for £1800 a piece. Some very tasty tremolux's from the 60's. Jtm45's Ac30's and ac15's. Cant remember the price on them though. I must see how much I can ditch this bluesjr for.

FillerJ.

5 Fenders mate. Only 3 of em get played. I dont struggle much between them at all, but use them for different things. The hotrods for rockier styles, the custom classic for more 60's stuff, ballads and country. The tele gets used for just about anything. The 4th a 95 MIM is awaiting refret (soon as I get some fretwire) and is strictly for blues or thrashmetal. Its by far my favourite. I'll never find another neck I like as much as that one. Probably because I've had it so long. I think you learn to get round em after a while so you dont even think about it.
Them Clapton necks are a delight. I dont know anybody who's owned one and hasnt grown to love it, if they weren't smitten at first grab. I think its very much a best of all worlds shape. Very comfortable for chording and thumb over the top playing. Position your thumb on the apex of the V and it lends its self to that classical perfect fingering style too.

I can't say enough about how much I appreciate the members and this forum. I've learned more about my guitars in a couple of years by lurking and then becoming an active member than I did the previous 10-12 years of playing. And I am not exaggerating at all. Due to all the members but especially Nikininja, Ceri, CV, Twelvebar, the 2 or 3 club, CAFeathers, Martian, fhopkins, Texasguitarslinger, Vinnypop :D (hope all is well with him), Big Jay, Lomitus, zzdoc, and orvilleowner, among many others that I can't remember off the top of my head. (Please, please forgive me if I don't remember your name. My memory is shot). I have learned how to setup, modify, and fine tune my guitars. The knowledge that the forum members here have imparted has allowed me to get closer to the tone I constantly chase. I have learned what to look for when buying a new or used Strat. And I have saved many dollars by repairing or correcting a setup myself rather than taking a Strat to a luthier to put chapstick on my stringtree to keep it from sticking and then charging me $50.

I don't know what I would do without this forum as I check it several times a day even if I post rarely. I constantly am entertained and informed as I read the many posts, sometimes coherant and logical, other times zany and bizarre. I value everyone's opinion and believe that something can be learned from anyone (well almost anyone).

I just want to thank every single person that participates in this forum, especially the forum administrators, and anyone else that has a hand in making this forum the best on the internet.

On the subject of the V-neck. Does anyone have any experience with a largeer neck helping the pain caused by arthritic hands? I just turned 31 but have already developed arthritis in my hands and shoulders and am completely terrified to think that one day I may not be able to play because my hands won't operate like I want them to.

Thank You All,

Russ
