I was never a fan of the volume knob placement or the floating trem. I received a MIM 95 Stratocaster as a gift and kind of "made myself" get over the design. I learned on a Japanese SG copy, so it took me a while to get the hang of the Stratocaster. I never really fell in love with a Fender until I bought a MIA standard. Now its kind of a love hate thing. The J Mascis MIJ Jazzmaster is actually the coolest fender that I have ever played. If it wasn't so butt ugly, I would buy one. If anyone has one and wants to trade for a Stratocaster MIA 2008, PM me!

No. I fact, my other strat is a strat. In all seriousness I never bash a guitar until I play it.

i hated strats for a long time and then finally decided that i had to see what its all about. found out i dig 'em. i got a MIM as my first real strat. seems when i play my music i play a strat and when i play in a band i play a tele. maybe its cuz the other guy has a strat and i natually want a different tone than him. or i just have to be a little different...i dunno

Never realy, after I switched from classical acoustic to an electric, I had a short stint with a Tele because a strat was overwhelming at the first sight. There are so much moving parts. Soon after I realised it is not a big deal and Tele was replaced with the Strat.

I've never strat bashed. I played trumpet for years but became bored of it. One November when my dad and I were roaming the city we stopped by guitar center for the heck of it. We usually do that anyways.(my dad likes the keyboards) I decide standing there that I'm gonna buy a guitar right now and the strat caught my eye. Didn't know a thing about it or guitars. I got a MIM classic player 50's strat because it was sunburst and beautiful. I know much about guitars now and while I love all guitars electric or acoustic the strat still holds a special place in my heart as my first love.

Err, a 360? I started out loving Strats and played nothing else for 15 yrs, then bought a PRS 513 Rosewood which just blew me away, and I didn't really play my Strat for 3-4 yrs. Then I tried an EJ strat just out of interest, and fell in love all over again- the twangy single coil sound and 'fight' is very different to the smoothness of sound and general polish of the PRS.

Somehow, the Strat feels more organic and lively.

I still bash some of them. You never picked one up that plays bad or sounds bad?

No but I'm sad to say I did at one time think that teles were garbage because they only have one cutaway. What can I say young and stupid. Now the Tele is my favorite. don't get me wrong I still like the Strat though I don't think I'll get one because I don't think I'll use it. But you never know.

My first electric guitar was a squier affinity series strat. Since i was a beginner, i didn't even know what a "good" sound was. Then i heard some friends who had like les pauls and SG:s and realized that they sound way cooler. Then my friend got and american stratocaster but he played it through a really bad sounding amp. Of course i didn't realize that it was the amp who was delivering the bad tone so that just fueled my hate for strats.

Years went by and i had a epiphone les paul wich was basically the coolest thing ever (at least i though so at the moment). And i got really cocky and arrogant, basically mocking some of my friends who liked strats.

I really felt like an idiot when i started playing in a band with another guitarist who had a strat and i got to try it out on my own amp and pedals. It was absolutely awesome! Beutiful sounding. Delivering awesome clean sound and smooth distortion, my world turned upside down!

After that i got a strat myself and i couldn't be happier! I'm in heaven everytime i play it.

Unfortunately i got off with the wrong foot with strats, thank god i realized the awesomeness of it!

Nah, but believe it or not, Jeff Beck did when he went through his Les Paul stage. He bashed them in GP magazine way, way back.

I can't say i ever bashed Strats but i started playing in the early 80's when the fad guitar was the SG or Les Paul...I then went to Ibanez with the S540 ltd.. That was a H.S.H configuration...At that time i played mostly hard rock and metal..Then as i aged i started playing more traditional Blues and Blues based rock..
I still was playing a SG at that time and was a humbucker only guy...I was taking lesson from a Guitar institute grad at Dales music and he had a old beat up 60's Strat and this was my first true experience with a Strat after almost ten years of playing i never really gave Strats or Tele's a chance..I then started having some problems with my SG and started looking at some guitars when i came in for lessons...I had become friends with one of the salesman there and was complaining about them not having any guitars i liked .Of course they were a Fender dealer and he directed me to a Strat ultra with the Lace Sensor dually...I didn't end up buying that guitar that time because i was still stuck in my ways i ended up buying a PRS with double Humbuckers..
That guitar end up getting smashed over the handle bars of my Harley by psycho ex..Who also trashed my 81 JCM 800 amp and full stack and then flooding my house...
That is when i bought my first Strat a 89 Strat ultra just like the first one i played..I now own 4 Strats a Ibanez Les Paul copy a G&L SC-1 a 68 Silvertone Mosrite and a couple acoustics and i'm building a 5th Strat..
So even though i have become a Strat fan i still have love for the old rocking Humbucker guitars of my past ..

When I first started playing, I thought I'd never use anything but Ibanez or Charvel.

I've grown.
I'll only fly Fender until the day I die.

Abosutley. I was convienced the Les Paul was the guitar to have, bought one and immediately started modding it because I couldn't find the tone I loved. Strat's were a dime a dozen, everyday guitars. Les Pauls were instruments of beauty. But just because a guitar looks right, doesn't mean its right for you. I found my guitar, MIM Lonestart Strat, Artic White. My Les Paul collects dust. It looks great, but doesn't have the tone my Strat has for my style.

I'm guilty of said offense. When I first started learning to play guitar a friend of mine had several Strats and many Telecasters. I used to think the Strat was such an ugly guitar, I wasn't a fan of the double cut out look. The once I started playing he Strat a little more, getting a feel for it, I realized I was wrong. I still love the Telecaster above all, but i'm very much a Strat man too.

when i started guitar i really wanted a mim strat but sadly my friend convinced me that fender sucks and i should get an epiphone. :( . knowing nothing about guitars i listened to him and got an sg. so from that point on i hated fender. then one day i went into my local shop and played a strat before my guitar lesson. it was love at first riff (MIA standard) . since then i have never thought evil thoughts about fender. Fender shall and is the best guitar brand ever.
