I bought a used MIM Strat with the lovely 60th Anniversary silver button on the back of the headstock. There is a sticker proclaiming Fender Special Edition and it is # MZ6158670. I love the way the guitar plays but the bridge pickup does not sound great so I want to replace it. I have done a bit of research into the post market pickup world and found a company called Rio Grande. Anybody out there ever installed one of their pickups in the bridge position? If so which model and was it "mind blowing" as one of their clients has claimed. Thanks, M

Why would you replace it if it sounds great? Do you want it to sound terrible?

As I stated, all BUT the bridge pickup sounds great. At first I thought it was wired out of phase but I checked that and it seems ok. Believe me, I wouldn't be changing anything if the bridge pickup were even close to sounding good.

"and all" is a common english idiom. I, too, couldn't make your original post make sense.

Please pardon my idioms and let me reiterate. The bridge pickup in the aforementioned MIM Stratocaster sounds like Crap! I came across Rio Grande pickup company and wondered if any of you had ever installed one in your guitar. If so, could you please pass on your praises or condemnations. I hope this makes things clearer.

Never looked into them, but I have installed a set of Fender Vintage Noisless into one of my MIM's, loads of improvment and no hum. Thinking about doing the same to my other MIM.

My friend has Rio Grande pickups in his Strat and they sound good. Personally I prefer Seymour Duncans, put honestly that's more of an opinion thing. Upgrade the pickup without fear, you will like the sound.

One thing you could think about is wiring the guitar so you have tone control for the bridge pickup. It might help some.
