I recently visited Musiciansfriend.com and noticed that on 11-14-09 these pickups "Fender Noiseless Upgrade Guitar Pickup Set" would be available. I looked around on this Fender website but was unable to find any infomation on these. If anyone has any info on the pickups I would appreciate a response.

Welcome.

It is not a new model set if that's what you're thinking. They are simply the black covered set of VNs where MF chose to throw in the word, "Upgrade". Slick marketing ploy, eh?

Yes I agree, I play a 2004/2005 delux powerhouse strat, I do enjoy the 12dB active mid boost but am concidering upgrade. I play rock, blues, and gear twoards a smashing pumpkins breed of sound so I want my highs and lows to be animated without the hum of the MIM's 60 reel. Any opinion on what my best bet would be?

You enjoy the active mid boost AND want your highs and lows to be, "animated"? By, "animated", I presume you mean you want them to stand out more. Prominent highs and lows usually mean a 'modest' midrange. A preamped midrange will easily negate any prominent highs and lows unless of course, the highs and lows are preamped too.

I regret that this old geezer (me) is not familiar with The Smashing Pumpkins breed of sound at all. Sidestepping any reference to them, I perceive the EMG David Gilmour DG20 setup would have virtually all the requirements you've specified.

I had concidered lace sensors, any experience with those or would it simply be a lack luster upgrade?

I'm not a big fan of them. I just don't hear a lot of vital Strat frequencies with them for lack of a better phrase.

Again, from what I perceive your requirements are, the EMG Gilmour kit would be perfect for you.
