I prefer guitar, cause you can do more with it. but I play both in my band. depending on what the song calls for.

when i auditioned people for my band, i made sure they all could play multiple instruments well. even the drummer. we have a drummer, keyboardist, bass, and I play mainly guitar and vocals. but we all switch instruments for certain songs.

Definately guitar, you can even play some good bass tunes with it. Try this (strats r good at it) set your amp on a nice clean sound. Turn the bass and treble (low and high on some amps) all the way up, and set your guitar to the neck position (the one closest to the neck duh), and mute the strings slightly. Get some good bass tunes and they will sound great. Try reversing that on a bass! :D

Guitar. So much fun to play, very versitile and emotional. Although I'm sure a bass player could tell you the same :)

yeah, Fender is quite famous for the P bass. and the Jazz bass. They are probably the most famous bass guitars in the world.
