'ello.
I got a Highway 1 Strat on Monday at Peter Cook's Guitar World.
I was a bit iffy at its small £479 price tag... and then I played it. Even if someone was willing to spend a grand on a guitar - I'd still advise this one.
Its the finest guitar I'v ever played on... And I'm a proud owner of a '69 re-issue custom shop :?

I'v got no pictures of it yet, but this is the same one I found on Google Images:

I wanna' put a tortoise shell pickguard on it, and I have a very newbie question: How do you put on new pickguards?

Changing the pickguard: Pull the knobs off, unscrew the pickguard. Unscrew the pickups and controls from the pickguard. Fit pickups and controls to new pickguard. Screw new pickguard to body.

NOTE: The holes of the new pickguard will not necessarily align with the holes in the old pickguard. You may need to redrill the body to fit.

Cheers. Nice guitar BTW!

be careful not to lose the springs that the pickups are mounted with......and if you have bought the right pickguard, the screws should line up. older strats have a different screw pattern, but most modern strats use a standard 11 screw.

pics....or it didn't happen

I've had many guitars in my 30 years of playing. Some of my favorites were an Adamas classical guitar, a '74 Gibson Les Paul and my 2007 American Deluxe Stratocaster. I just recently purchased a H-1 HSS and I can't put it down. It is light, the contours fit like a glove and the pickups scream! Some people have complained about the 60 cycle hum but that's only because they have everything cranked to 10. The Grease Bucket technology allows you to roll off the highs without mucking up the lows. Keeping the volume knob between 4-7 will give you a dynamic range without noise. The tone knobs really let you keep things clean at low to moderate volume very efficiently. Also, a little compression helps. Then when you want some crunch crank the guitar's volume. If the gain is up even moderately on the amp or stomp box the volume knob become a dynamic overdrive you can control with your pinkie and the hum should be drowned out. Hendrix didn't have noiseless pickups. As a matter of fact he used the noise to his advantage and so did those who followed him like Robin Trower, Gary Moore and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Even humbuckers hum if you crank up the gain and brighten the tone high enough so it's not the guitar but the guitarist's intelligence and technique.
