The Tie Dye is clearly not a Strat. It looks like one of those from the Stagemaster and Showmaster lines. Those guitars varied widely ... some had a set neck, some had humbuckers, some were made by the Custom Shop, etc. , etc. The semi-hollowbody seems a steal for $300. I believe Fender made those in the '70s & '80s in an effort to take away Gibson's near corner on that market segment. Even though those semi-hollow Fender lines were not successful, they were supposed to be great guitars.

Thanks Twelvebar, and now I know it's basswood.

Looks like the strat was made in Korea and cost about the same new. So I'll pass on that one.

If the Semi hollowbody is indeed a Fender I would really consider buying it. I like those big Gibsons, like the 135 and 335, but they're out of my price range. I considered getting an Epiphone one, or one of the Ibanez ones, but was holding off.

I have an epiphone dot, i really like the feel, but I am seriously considering a pickup change.

When I first starting looking at guitars on Craigslist they had a dot for $150, wish I would of got it, because now all the ones on there are like in the $250 range.
