So lately, i've been checking the internet alot.
I was really eager to buy a new strat (got kinda bored from the ordinairy strat) and heard that on the internet you could find very interesting fender guitars.
One day i found this so called ' Fender Stratocaster 65 NOS - Custom Shop'
The first thing that attracted me was its color: Burgundy Mist
And apparently it has custom shop vintage special pu's.
This guitar seems very unique (i've never seen one like it before)
And the dude who's selling it, says it's about 1700 euros (about 2400 dollars).
Is it a bargain? And what tone can i expect? I'm really fond of JH SRV and JM.
here's some pics. Would you buy it? and is it as special as i think? http://images.kapaza.com/photoslarge/20 ... 655113.jpg

Seems to be in the reasonable range for that guitar.

I played a similar one, and it very nearly came home with me. The only reason it didn't is i have several guitar projects on the go, and can't justify spending any more money until i get the time to finish them up.

That said, if it is what it seems from the picture, it will be one heck of an axe.

You can expect to get all the common Strat tones from it, with the right amplification. You will be able to approximate their tones for sure.

Oh man... what a tasty lookin' hunk of lumber.
I'm a big fan of oddball colors on Stratocasters.

But is $2400 really a "reasonable" price for that guitar?
'Cuz that sounds pretty outrageously expensive to me.

Not that i'm any kind of expert or anything,
just that $2400 is a lot a freakin' dough.
And, in the end, it's just a Fender Strat.

It is to me anyway, ymmv.

Great lookin' axe though.

well, upper end of reasonable. but do research, a quick ebay search of similar instruments shows them in that price range.

maybe scout any dealers in your area, see if they have similar axes, and see what they go for where you are. keep in mind location and availability really affect pricing.

Nope, picked up some extra work aside from my full time job, helping my bro with some of the jobs his company had. his partner had hernia surgery. haven't had any free time. also we have had snow for a couple weeks, and I spray outside, the only days i had free the weather hurt me. i have a spray tent(portable greenhouse,) but the weather was too ugly.

I expect to be done with the extra work in a week or so. i'll get back on it then. being chilly won't hurt me, but I'll wait for a more mellow stretch to finish up. should be soon though.

Wow, i guess so, huh?

I had no idea a not-that-old Strat would be so much.
I suppose there's the whole "Custom Shop" factor too.

Like i said though, it IS a sexy beast & if $2400 was no hardship
to me i'm sure i'd shell it out in heartbeat, if i wanted the guitar.

Hi Stratbluesguy, welcome to the Forum.

Oooh - I see what caught your eye:

That's pretty, and a bit unusual even for a reissue. If it feels good too then I think the price is OK. Not a crazy bargain, but not bad at all.

If you're happy with it - do it!

Cheers - C

PS To Twelvebar: I know what it's like when folks are impatient for you to get on with something, so I won't nag. But we haven't forgotten!!

Hey guys, thanks for the swift reply, you guys really made my day.
About the price , 1700 euro's, i might be able to cut it till 1600 (maybe 1500).
This seems very reasonable no? In belgium , a standard strat is about 1100 euros, a signature about 1500. For a custom shop it seems like a bargain to me, or am i wrong?
Either way i'll have to try it first.
But here's the thing ==> It took me 2 years (saving and selling stuff) to get this amount of money, so I guess you guys understand i really need to think about this.

I've got about 1500 euro's , i'm fond of srv and John Mayer and really want their fat tone, but still want a unique guitar.
I've thought of buying a deluxe or john mayer strat or this one.
John Mayer strat seems sooo sweet, but then it wouldn't be unique at all.
On the other hand i've got small hands, so his neck might not suit me.
Anyway, help me guys :D. i'm really counting on you guys !![/i][/b]
