Noodles, I know it wasn't all that friendly for you in the past couple of days but it's happened to me before too. I hope you don't judge us all as a whole because of it my friend. I didn't care for the way the OP of this thread was ridiculed either but once you get to know the guys that posted you will realize it was more in a joking way. There is always an exception though.

FHop: I know what you mean. I stay well clear of "ruffling feathers", too. On another note, did you move to Lousiana? I love that state. I have never lived there, and I know the heat and humidity can be a little rough, but it is just an awesome place.

Yes I did move here from Mississippi when I was 17 and now I'm 57! So I guess I think of myself as a native of the state now. I love the environment and the culture down here and have no desire to live any other place. Especially since I met and married a Louisiana woman!!

I play my electrics unamplified a lot more than I do amplified. How on earth do you sit infront of the tele noodling away into a 100watt jcm 3/4 stack (a 2x12 combo with a 4x12)? I dunno about you but I just cant hear corronation street over that amp. Suppose I'll have to get a 4k P.A on the tv to compensate and some sort of bribe to hold over the noise abatement society.

Seriously though I do play it unplugged a hell of a lot, way more than plugged in. Infact I find you simply have to concentrate more, rely on you pick attack and fingering rather than amp eq and gain. I know its not the way the instrument was intended to be used, but that makes it no less valid. Especialy when you suffer insomnia and its 4am.

Niki, did you get that 68 plexi yet? You lucky dog! :)
So you suffer with insomnia. I wondered how you were able to stay up all the time. I suffer with it at times myself!

Hop

Just to kind of clarify for a moment...I'm a big boy, all grown up, thick skinned, raised on the streets of New York. I can take anything that anyone has to say about me relating to any subject that we may be discussing. I don't have "hurt feelings". I don't expect everyone to agree with my opinions, and I actually enjoy a healthy animated debate. I'm not doing the "oh poor me" thing here by any means. But personal attacks are completely uncalled for and out of line. My friend Mr lomitus, as you all are surely aware, was not man enough to apologize for the disrespect and insults that he posted while hiding behind the keyboard, although I assure you that he would not have had the same things to say to my face.

Good fun is good fun...disagreement is healthy and thought inspiring, ... debate is entertaining as well. Although with the exception of Niki...not one person called this jerk out and told him that he was out of line.

Again...just my opinion

Ooops. For some reason, I thought you were up in the northeast. Okay, well maybe you can post a good gumbo recipe if you got one. I'll just slip back into my coma now ...

Then why don't we just drop this completely and move on.

The 68 has gone. Theres a 72, which should still be handwired, just have a different transformer (a drake just not the same type as the drake used on the 60's ones) and a lot lower pricetag. It needs looking at and thinking about. Still It would be nice to have a amp as old as I am. The way my jcm's sounding lately though it seems a waste of good amp. I dont even have to turn the dials, just the volume control on the amp and the vol and tone controls on the guitar. Mate you'd love it there, a collection of 70's ac30's, 60's bassman's and tremolux's. Also a few 60's twins. My personal favourite out of the fender range was a red knobbed 80's twin. It had a oxford speaker in it and sounded stunning. It cured me of a lot of rumour about the red knob amps not being up to par. Also theres about 7, 60's bluesbreakers. I could go into guitars (sadly no pre cbs on display though I'm assured their viewable by appointment).
All out in the back of beyond, a little one horse town near the north east coast of England. I rarely saw that kind of stuff in the 2nd city, never mind out in the sticks.

The insomnia's been bad lately, not even excessive amounts of beer is allieviating it. I'm starting to get scared that my brains gonna go fightclub on me.

Dont ruffle the Feathers could well become my new sig. Very impressed with that one Chet.

Back to the back plates .... I don't know exactly some of you are doing, but I've never got anything caught, pinched, bent, folded, or mutilated in the trem springs in over 30 years!
