8) Yes yes! A neat idea!

I often enjoy looking round the SimsCustom website. And now I've had a good time inspecting the (Patrick) SimsCustomShop site too.

Twelvebar, have you seen Patrick's chrome finish? I presume that is the same stuff you were talking about recently. It looks fab!

And to Andy: crazy, huh? Well thank you for bringing these cool paint jobs to our attention! Lotta fun... :D

Cheers - C

Patrick,
Where in Tn are you located? I'm in Murfreesboro - do you accept tourists?

Well, I got my Fender Friday special MIM in White from MF a couple of months ago and I decided to have it refinished.

I went with the Taos Turquoise because it's a fairly rare OEM color and I really liked it.

I got it back from Patrick at Sims Custom Shop and it looked great out of the box. After I put it together, well............

this thing is incredible!!

is it finished in nitro?

Well, it's been almost 2 years since i sent Sims my JS1000 body to be chromed (and $400 to boot). Patrick has just blown me off. So here i am holding a neck , pickups, and hardware to my JS with no body in sight. Anyone here even considering sending Sims their guitar or money should maybe think twice. I , and countless others, have been ripped of by Sims. Stories can be read at simswarning.com. He also has been banned from many guitar related sights such as Jemsite, Sevenstring, Metalguitar and more. I have no motive here but to warn others not to make the same mistake as i have. Patrick, if you see this, i will tell you that as long as i'm alive, i will not persist to try and get my property back from you. I have emailed, pm'd and phoned you to no avail. I will continue to track you down. You cannot hide from me.

I read some of his quotes, guy sounds like an $@!.
If the guy had my guitar for 2 years I would definitley consider paying him a visit.

Good luck to you guys, hope you get your guitars back.

Speaking from personal experience, Patrick (Sims) generally does high quality work but it's a crap shoot as to when you will get your guitar back and in a few instances (others not myself), it may not be exactly what you ordered (is covering a body in fabric or a giant decal considered "painting it?")

The fact is there are other painters out there who can deliver the same level of quality for the same money in less time with far less hassle. The really good painters aren't visiting forums and pimping their wares because their work and reputation speaks for itself.

I think this is a real shame. The guys work looks great. Yes I have seen the people knocking his workmanship in certain cases. Honestly though its a by hand finishing service. There are going to be small mistakes.

If the guy was better with other peoples money and had more concern for treating customers right, this would be a killer service. Seems to me like he's either got too much work to do or just plain doesnt care. If its the latter he needs to just pack it in. If its the former he needs to stop taking orders until he's cleared the backlog. When he starts taking orders again he should up his price and take on no more than 10 jobs at a time. Theres a lot of drying time with paint jobs that is 'dead time'. I think he's tried to get round that by taking in a lot of work and hasn't factored in preperation which just eats hours like they were cheerio's.

Its a real shame. I hope he gets it all sorted out.
