Well, I got my Fender Friday special MIM in White from MF a couple of months ago and I decided to have it refinished.

I went with the Taos Turquoise because it's a fairly rare OEM color and I really liked it.

I got it back from Patrick at Sims Custom Shop and it looked great out of the box. After I put it together, well............

this thing is incredible!!

 Oh man... i'd waterboard a detainee for one of those.

I might be tempted to go the tuxedo route somehow though.
Either some black knobs & pickup covers on the white guard
or maybe a black guard w/ the white knobs & covers...maybe.

She's a breathtaking beauty as is though.

Absolutely gorgeous, Andy.

Congratulations.

Hello AndyReich,

Great color choice,
looks real good with the maple fretboard.
What was the cost of the paintjob?

Cheers.

Thanks guys!

Mr. Bill, after everything, including shipping it was $300.

Hi andyreich: oooo - congrats on a nice paint job! I like it a lot!

This is also an interesting thread because you are the first person I've spoken to who has personal experience of Sims Customs:

http://www.simscustom.com/

(A great website for a browse - some very eye catching possibilities...)

I'd be most curious how it was dealing with them? Friendly; helpful? Sounds like a decent price: maybe it can be beaten, but if so not by much.

Cheers - C

EDIT: Oops, seems I have mixed up two different Sims Customs Shops. What are the odds? The Sims in question isn't the one I linked to but this one: www.simscustomshop.com . See below - and apologies for the confusion. And BTW, there's fine work to be seen at this Sims too!!!

Beautiful color.

I remember when Earl Scheibe could paint an entire car that color for $99.99. Proof I am getting older.

Breaking news:

I notice that a gentleman with the username SimsCustomShop joined the Forum today and has been spending some time on the Strat pages.

SCS: welcome to the Forum. And if you are the fella that did the paint job above, why not say hello and receive some well deserved praise?

:D - C

Hey! Thanks. Yes I did join the forum today after my customer Andy told me about it & that he had posted a review here. I didn't say anything like "Hey I'm the one that painted this....but it wasn't by the simscustom.com guy (Martin Sims in the UK) but by me, Patrick Sims, i.e simscustomshop.com in Tennessee" b/c I was afraid that would be viewed as "advertising" & wouldn't want to get in trouble for flashing up my web address. I did however send Andy an email and asked him if he didn't mind to clarify that it was simscustomshop.com when someone else suggested it was simscustom.com

Ceri, if you could please edit your previous post to simscustomshop.com instead of simscustom.com that would be great....that way the right company gets credit for it :) And for those who haven't been to our site you should check it out, we have done custom paint jobs & refinished alot of Fenders that I'm sure you guys would like seeing!

Thanks again for the welcome! This guitar really turned out great....it was a little difficult getting the formula for this guitar since it was such a rare color, but after pulling some strings I was able to get my hands on it. I absolutely LOVE this color. Its bluer than surf green, but not too blue, not too dark, just right. Andy definitely picked a cool color to go with. I'd really like to paint some more guitars in this color in the future, very unique.

Ha - amazing! It never occurred to me that there would be two Sims Custom Shops in the world! Whadayaknow?

Hi Patrick: I shall indeed do an edit to my post above to make it clear - sorry for the confusion.

Folks do sometimes come here to advertise and it doesn't go down well. But under these circumstances nobody could possibly object: you are not the only custom builder here - all are very welcome! :D

Anyway. Great looking work - kudos!

Cheers - C

Thanks Ceri! I really appreciate that. Yea, it is a pretty big coincedence. Two guys, Patrick Sims (me) and another guy named Martin Sims both do the same kinda stuff & both picked the same name (unbeknownst to the other). But, if you think about it, most custom shops just use their last name & tag "Custom Shop" onto the end....Fender Custom Shop, Gibson Custom Shop, Jackson Custom Shop, etc....so Sims Custom Shop just seemed to me to be the best name to go with......
