Yeah, I didn't find them at stewmac but I was looking in the wrong place.

Thanks guys!

This is the last step in my rebuild.

I took a 98 MIM Strat in OLY Blonde and did the following:

Callaham Bridge/Trem
Mint Pickguard and "aged" accessories
CS 69 Pickups
New tone, volume Pots and 5 Way Switch
Blender Pot
Treble Bleed on Volume
Base Plate
String Tree

... and the last part is the tuners.... almost there thanks to this forums! Thanks again!

Difference in grain direction. Likely to work loose. Why not just use tuners with the right size shafts?

Does grain direction really matter considering that once it's filed down to the right size the remaining dowel wood is less than 1/16" thick? I wouldn't worry about them working loose, they're nice and snug.

Not to mention with very little extra effort, as long as you put in proper care and attention, you could easily manufacture dowels/plugs and very closely match grain, and other characteristics.

I think a lot of people are excessively afraid of trying this stuff. this is pretty basic woodworking. There is nothing fancy about most electric guitars. They aren't high tech, in any way. Anyone with even a basic understanding of woodworking, and also of tools could build one or at the very least do most repairs.

All you really need to do is be careful, use common woodworking practices, and practice on scrap before tackling the main project.

Fo the OP getting the adapters is the best choice. it is much easier, less effort, and doesn't involve altering the guitar from original in any way. But that doesn't mean people with woodworking experience can't do the repairs voodoo talked about.
