Post subject: Odd serial number, what do you guys think?

I saw a "supposed" to be American Stratocaster with a very odd serial number, to my eyes anyway. It has this serial number:

AMXN714943


I have never seen this type of serial number before, that starts with AMX

any thoughts?

According to the usual site it says

This guitar is from the California Series of electric guitars and basses
assembled in Mexico with American parts
made at the Ensenada Plant (Fender), Mexico
in the Year(s): 1997 - 1998
