Ok I need some of your "expert" opinions...

If you were choosing a bridge for your own guitar, which is a string-through body, what would you choose?

Hi Ryan: hardtail bridge for a Strat type guitar, you mean?

I certainly have not done side-by-side testing of different models, but one I'd look at is the Hannes non-trem bridge by Schaller:

And by the way, their installation instructions .PDF has got to be clearest thing of its kind I've ever seen from any manufacturer. Well done, Schaller!

(I suspect that bridge might not look "Straty" enough for your tastes, though...)

Cheers - C

If I were keeping an eye on my budget, I'd go for a Wilkinson, there are heaps of them on Ebay, they are well made and cheaper than most! I have their ash-tray style tele bridge with brass saddles and it is NICE.

If you are willing to spend the dosh on something a little more "Boutique" I'd go the Callaham route. They have some fantastic stuff but you do pay a premium for it. I find their designs are well thought out and an improvement on traditional designs.

Callaham customer service gargles balls though. I tried ordering some traditional style saddles for my deluxe from them and never heard back. I found some at a local shop though. Lucky, they are great!

You had a bad experience, but my experience with Callaham was exactly the opposite: they were very helpful before the purchase, and quick to respond.
