Having just got my CP50s (Shoreline Gold), and having felt that it gives more worthwhile features than any other Strat in Fender's history, leads me to my first post here to get at least one lick in favoring this awesome guitar.
Got'er for $550 off the bay (so-called used, ha!), dead mint w/only a pickguard upgrade (gold-ish white pearloid) which is something I probably would have done, so there's an extra benni, and a beautifully figured neck.
I'll be putting on a custom set of 11s at lunchtime to test drive.
I think these will become a most highly sought guitar as the word gets out even more.
CP50s = Grand Slam winner!

If it were my money it would be an American Standard, so I voted Highway 1 as it is the closest.

I think its different for everyone, I just love the way the USA Standard models play and sound. For me, nothing else is quite like it :)

Just wondering because he always praises the highway one strat and Van Halen and not much else except downgrading the MIA Standard at every chance. He also has had several alias.
So, I'm sorry that I asked but I it was similar. Have a good one my friend and welcome to the forum!! :)

I wonder what makes the American Standard overrated? I mean thats not my opinion of them at all. I dont own one but have played a hell of a lot of them, both studio and live. I actually think its a very very good guitar, probably better than the deluxe. I think where its a let down is that its a all strat for all occasions. Its geared up to do every strat scenario well (really well), but doesnt really excell in any one area. Whereas fender also make specific guitars for specific purposes. For instance a 62 reissue does a vintage strat immitation superbly, you honestly couldnt fault it. A standard will do a great approximation of that sound, certainly closer than a american deluxe or highway1 will get you. But doesnt come close to the 62ri for that sound. In the hands of someone wanting a specific sound its not the best choice. If however you want a good guitar that covers all bases its a great pick. Thats an example and in no way is meant to deride any guitar or say that the american standard does a 62 sound. The fact is the american standard is a guitar for all kinds of applications, thats why every studio I've ever been in has one. The deluxe and highway1's are very sound specific and great at their given sounds.
