I'm not a huge fan of the SCN pickups, but that is my personal opinion, what I don't like you may love!

I love the feel of the deluxe v neck and I'd reccomend it every time. But you have to look at what style guitar you want, if you want more of a clasic style guitar go with the standard, if you want something more modern go for the deluxe.

Good luck making the choice, I'd get one of each for good measure!

I have one of each. Both are different beasts. I personally love the SCN's on my Deluxe.Between the two I can get a wide variety of tones.Put a Deluxe in your stable, you won't regret it. Playing before you buy should settle the SCN issue.... 8) Mike

thats the thing,
i played both at gc, i actually loved them both.
i tested them clean, high gain. the am had alittle hum, not alot.
totally diff tones.
i have a hwy 1, am std rw fb, and a cp 60s.
i was looking into getting a deluxe players with vintage noiseless however the quality of the one i saw was pretty poor. after that i changed my mind.
i still want to mod my am std w vintage noiseless pus. however i feel im commiting a sin  .
then i played the am deluxe w v neck on sale 1200. to clarify, some tones i was not really liking, but everything with higher gain, heavy blues, hard rock, classic rock was tickling my senses.
not to mention the same settings sounded good with the am std.

so maybe? am deluxe and keep my other am std stock?
im only afraid that after getting the strat the tones will sound synthesized or sterile. :?

If you already have an Am Std then go with the deluxe IMO .. I have that same guitar (V neck Deluxe two tone sunburst), and I prefer it over the Am Deluxe Ash I had a few months back and its a fine piece of workmanship...that much I can tell you.

SCN's are not bad but they take time getting used to... besides you can always change them - interchangeably - with a loaded pickguard (I have Dimarzio Area 67, 61, 58 ) ....they have relatively weaker magnets so you can raise the poles up quite near the strings

One last thing I like the S-1 Switch .. especially if you like fat jazzy tones.....it makes the guitar IMO quite versatile .. if you like to play different genres.

why not go with an HSS if you std is an SSS? just a thought.

Cheers and good luck
Hisham

i do like the idea of the hss, actually i tried out the hss deluxe w lsr nut,
really liked it
however they had only white and rw fb.

all my strats are rw, i really want a maple neck.
the deluxe has maple v neck. and its for 1200
i think im going with the am deluxe. unless i find a am std that blows my mind.

Try Craigslist sometimes you can find gems, i did twice...I bought my 2008 "new" V neck deluxe for $600.. the guitar was in "unused" condition with a new TKl case, it still had the plastic covers on the pickguard. The previous owner hadn't even filled the warranty card.. it was less than a month old. He was selling to buy a Braziliam RW Taylor (nothing wrong with the guitar).

I agree with you , if all your guitars are rosewood go for maple.. I personally prefer rosewood .. but ended with a maple fb. I also prefer the V neck to the C neck... because i have fairly large hands and for some reason they seemed more comfortable (but less comfy than the U neck on the old Jeff Beck Strat).

Personally, I would go with the American Standard Strat. I have always preferred V-neck strats but the pickups on the American Standard Strat seem to have a more vintage tone.

They do sound more vintage, I had both for a while .. but some Am Std's can sound a bit harsh or shrilly in comparison... so in the end you really have to choose the particular guitar.

cherokee747 thats a beauty !
