Hello all..
I just got me a crimson red w/rosewood deluxe players strat.. It's gorgeous.. I took it to my tech to have hime give it a once over.. he made some minor tweeks to get the intonation right, and then he suggested raising the pickup heights.. This unfortunately is not something i'm familiar with.. He then recommended a setup like Eric Johnson.. Yes... I know... EJ isn't using vintage noiseless pups.. But like my tech said, if it's not to my liking, just lower them til I am happy.. :)

He set them up like this:
Neck pup: 5/64ths
Middle pup: 9/64ths
Bridge pup: 5/64ths

I listened to the guitar before the pickup adjustment, and after.. The most noticeable change was the output (volume), and the tone got warmer too.. Especially when using the neck pup..
So, I guess my question is this:
Do any of you guys have your strats setup similar to mine??
Or, what settings are you guys running??
Also, what are the standard pickup heights from the Fender Factory??
I didn't have him write down what they were before he changed them..

Thanks all..
Jason

Edit:
Found the fender factory settings:
Bass side: 8/64ths Treble side: 6/64ths

Fender factory pickup heights can be found on this site under setup guides. Adjusting the height is easy. Counterclockwise lowers and clockwise raises. Do a search on The Nickle Method on this site. Its a pretty good starting place. Hope this helps.. 8) Mike

Your welcome, but it's Chet's method, can't take any credit for that. 8) Mike
