The black sticker on the neck plate that says CE. What does it mean and why is it there? I've also seen this printed on the back of Marshall amps.

CE stands for Conformité Européenne, which is French for "European Conformity." A product in one of the controlled product categories cannot legally be sold in the EU unless it has passed the tests to receive the CE marking.

For a company trying to sell a product, getting a CE marking makes things much easier because it means you can sell the product anywhere in the EU. In the United States, electronic device manufacturers need to meet the same sort of requirements to get FCC approval.

BEWARE the EU logo has a space between the C and the E so to allow two circles to entwine.
It is a symbol of quality as the product has been tested in European Quality and Secutiy labs.
Those chinese just found to issue a CE logo = China Export, both letters being joined not separated as in the EU 's one, lousy Chinese....

Excuse me but it's not really obvious and I've never heard of this European Union.

A little cursory research can often prevent embarrassment. Don't be the Ugly American. :?

A little simple answer like European Union goes a long way too. The purpose of forums is to provide answers not act like pricks.

Hi 357mag: nobody has acted like pricks.

As it happens, I for one have provided A LOT of answers to your questions over the months, some of which are very basic indeed. Other people have sometimes expressed exasperation with the stuff you ask: I have not.

Yet I'm struggling to remember when you have ever once said thank you to me or anyone else.

Improve your manners, and if you don't want to be seen as a jerk don't behave like one.

Now. Take a deep breath and start over.

- C

Oh so now there is a law against asking basic questions? Who cares whether or not a question is complicated or basic? Or whether it's been asked before or not?

If you can't type the word European Union like I would have instead of posting some sarcastic answer like Good Lord then you've got the problem buddy not me.
