HI there, i am a new member to this site and just had a question. I'm thinking of getting my first fender and was just wondering if the price difference is worth it. I have not gone to play these two guitars yet so don't just tell me to go play them, i will eventually.

With what you write in mind, ill be able to analyze the two guitars more efficiently and make a better purchase.

I am debating between a 1962 Vintage Fender Stratocaster and the standard Stratocaster. The difference where i am is about 200-400 dollars depending on if you shop smart. Is the tone and buzz a large difference and worth that price difference with the pickups? I'm leaning more towards the 1962 Fender but i think if the pickups sound the same i might just go with the standard. Either way, i'm getting a great quality guitar.

Thanks for the help!

Well if you are looking for all of the vintage appointments, they are all there in the 62ri.6 point bridge, vintage tuners , vintage belllike chime, vintage stagger on the pole pieces.Question is , is it worth 400 dollars more?Only you can answer that. The things I like about the American standard are, the deltatone circuitry allows you to bypass the tone pots completely, there is total tone control ot the bridge pickup, the modern stagger on the polepieces allow for better balance across the strings.I prefer the modern C neck over the 7.25 radius neck, but alot of people like it.My suggestion is play both of them and see if YOU think its worth the extra money.Thats what really matters.

First of all welcome to the forum!
I am assuming your are asking the differences between the American Vintage '62 Reissue compared to the current American Std. I'm not sure what you mean when you refer to buzz but I will do my best to point you in the right direction.
The current American Std. is a modern update to the Strat. New pickups that in my opinion sound great with a modern 2 point bridge (with vintage style saddles; the best of both worlds) and a hard wearing poly finish.
The Vintage '62 reissue on the other hand has the 57/62 pickups (which have a old school Strat sound), a 6 point vintage bridge, and a faster wearing nitro finish. These are only some of the differences.
Basically you need to decide if you want a modern Strat or a throwback vintage style strat. Both are amazing guitars.
Personally I would choose the Vintage RI because I love the traditional Strat sound and I already have two modern Strats.
My final advise is to go out and play the heck out of both of them and only then make your final decision.

Riss
